Casting for Recovery at Pequest Trout Hatchery

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing "Casting for Recovery" at the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Warren County, NJ. Kerry Armillay from Sparta Cancer Center in Sparta, NJ hired me to head over and get some photos of breast cancer survivors learning how to fly-fish. Although it was very sunny and warm, the ladies caught a mess of gigantic trout in the education pond at Pequest. Alot of instructors informed the ladies that if they had caught trout the size they were catching it would make their month.

There was yelling, cheering and clapping all around the pond.

The location of Pequest Trout Hatchery is incredibly beautiful!

That is a nice fish!

Coming in to shore!

I have a ton of photos, this is just a few, as a new fly-fisherman myself, I can tell you that good, patient instruction is key to learning and enjoying this type of fishing. The instructors were all of these things and the support staff from Sparta Cancer Center also made sure the ladies had a great time. It was an awesome day!

Time Out

My son had a little trouble behaving yesterday so he had to sit for a "time out." His feet dangle from the chair in this photo. My wife wanted to know if the photo taking was part of the punishment.

The Pledge

This was my wife's favorite photo from the fair this year. They are all 4-H kids saying the pledge before the pig show. These kids are dedicated to their animals and take great pride in showing them.

The Fair

Just finished up shooting the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show/NJ State Fair for the people that run it. It was my second year documenting it for them and had a blast. Here is one of my favorites from the week.
I will post a few more in the next few days. Thanks.
